The weather here at Dunham Greyhound Centre has been horrendous. We have not been able to trial since the 22nd December due to either snow, freezing or a waterlogged track.
It has been a very frustrating period but the signs are that the worst is behind us. We are presently experiencing a thaw and the track will be worked on as soon as possible to bring it up to our usual high standards.
We expect to be open on Wednesday 23rd January but please check on this blog for up to the minute announcements or ring Jane at the kennels before travelling.

Even more rain this week I have lived in this area for over 25 years and never known it be so wet lucky for us most of the rain has been overnight. The pumps have been working overtime in between trialing. You will see from the times the track is in great condition.

This week (and last) we have had a huge amount of rain fall on the track, despite this the running surface has continued to remain in fantastic condition due to the efforts of our staff and in particular Fuzz.

We have had lots of rain overnight this week yet it does not seem to have effected the surface of the track, as you can see from the times.

The Track Maintenance Course at Nottingham was excellent and will help me to keep the condition of the track as safe and consistant as possible.

New Syndicate for RGT

Dunham Greyhound Centre have just donated a dog pup to Greyhound Scene to form a syndicate with the aim of raising money for the Nottingham homefinders scheme http://www.rgtmidlands.co.uk/

It costs £30 to join this syndicate and all cheques should be made payable to the Nottingham homefinders, in addition every penny of the apearance/win money earned by the pup will go to Nottingham homefinders.

It is hoped that the syndicate can attract 100 people join, that alone will be £3000 raised to help retired greyhounds.

About the greyhound

DUNHAM SKINNY is a November 07 black dog (Droopys Kewell-Moss Star) he has to date had 3 races finishing second twice, in his last race he went off favourite and picked up a minor injury but will soon be back in action.

Dunham Skinny will get the best of everything here at the centre. We will be looking to have great nights out at Nottingham and for those who cant always get there you will have the chance to see races on bags.

His progress will be posted both on Greyhound Scene Forum and of course on Jane’s Blog
